Facelift / Deep Plane Facelift in Zurich - For a naturally rejuvenated appearance

The natural ageing process of the skin cannot be stopped - fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of elasticity appear over time, particularly on the face. A facelift, especially a deep plane facelift, offers the opportunity to treat these visible signs of ageing in a targeted manner and significantly rejuvenate the face - with natural, harmonious results.

On the face, a distinction is made between mimic and age-related wrinkles. Mimic wrinkles are caused by repeated tensing of the facial muscles, such as frown lines or nasolabial folds. These can become permanently imprinted on the skin over time. Age-related wrinkles, on the other hand, are the result of a progressive breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers in the tissue - the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag.

A classic facelift can help here, but the modern deep plane facelift offers a particularly effective and lasting method of repositioning the deeper structures of the face. It enables a more comprehensive tightening without affecting the natural facial expressions - for a fresh, youthful appearance that does not look operated on.

At our clinic in Zurich, we will be happy to advise you personally and individually on the subject of facelifts - in particular on the advantages and possibilities of a deep plane facelift.

  • What is a deep plane facelift?

The deep plane facelift is an advanced form of facelift that lifts deeper layers of tissue to achieve a harmonious and natural result. In contrast to conventional facelifts, not only is the skin tightened, but the underlying muscle and connective tissue (SMAS) is repositioned. This leads to significantly longer durability and a particularly natural look - without the dreaded "tightened" or mask-like results.

  • Who is the Deep Plane Facelift suitable for?

The Deep Plane Facelift is ideal for people who:

    - want to correct visible signs of skin aging in the mid and lower face.

    - Want a more youthful, yet natural look.

    - value long-lasting and subtle results.

    - Already have experience with non-surgical methods, but are looking for a more long-term solution.

  • Will the scars be visible after a facelift?

After a facelift, especially a deep plane facelift, the scars are usually barely visible. Experienced surgeons place the incisions along natural skin folds and hairlines so that the scars are well hidden and become almost invisible over time. There are various incision techniques that are chosen depending on your individual anatomy and your wishes.

These options are discussed in detail during the consultation so that you receive a solution that leads to the best aesthetic results. Postoperative care also helps to optimize scar healing.

The procedure of a deep plane facelift

  1. Consultation: A detailed consultation with your specialist takes place before the treatment. Your wishes, questions and the individual treatment plan will be discussed.

  2. The procedure: The deep plane facelift is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes between 3 and 4 hours.

  3. Recovery: The procedure is followed by a short stay in hospital. Most patients can return to their daily activities after around 2-3 weeks.

  4. Long-term care: The first results are visible after a few weeks, while the final result is fully visible after about 3-6 months.

What should I consider before a facelift?

The usual anesthetic instructions apply before the operation: Please do not eat, drink or smoke after the prescribed time. Smoking in particular should be significantly reduced or ideally stopped completely before the operation, as nicotine can significantly impair wound healing. On the day of the procedure, you should wear no make-up and - if an eyelid correction is planned - avoid eyelash extensions. Blood-thinning medication should be discontinued in good time.

  • Two to three personal consultations are usually scheduled before a facelift. During these consultations, we clarify your wishes, the details of the operation and the exact procedure. A current blood test with a focus on blood count and coagulation is also necessary to ensure the medical requirements for a safe procedure. A trusting doctor-patient relationship is essential for us - because you will only be truly satisfied with the result if you feel that you are in good hands.

  • Please inform us of any medication you take regularly during the preliminary consultation. Blood thinners usually have to be discontinued before the procedure, which should be discussed with your GP or specialist if necessary. Other medications, such as those for the thyroid or blood pressure, can be continued in most cases - the anaesthetist will advise you individually on this.

  • Blood-thinning medication in particular, such as ASA or certain anticoagulants, should be discontinued in good time, as they increase the risk of secondary bleeding. If you have a heart condition or other relevant pre-existing conditions, please discuss with your doctor in advance whether and how your medication can be adjusted. In this way, we can work together to ensure maximum safety during your procedure.

Q&A

PRESS

The demand for a face lift and neck lift has risen by almost 60 percent in recent years.

The WELT interview with Dr. Volker Rippmann sheds light on the revolutionary development of the facelift and the introduction of the new Deep Plane Facelift method, which offers more natural results and a lower complication rate.

Frequently asked questions

  • Results can last up to 10 years or longer, depending on individual factors such as skin type and lifestyle.

  • Most patients are fully fit for work again after 2-3 weeks. However, slight swelling and bruising may still be visible for a few weeks.

  • Thanks to modern anesthesia and a gentle technique, the procedure is largely pain-free. Slight swelling and feelings of tension are normal in the first few days after the procedure.

  • After a facelift - especially a deep plane facelift - you will understandably still look marked in the first few days after the procedure. However, the healing process is rapid: swelling and hematomas are significantly reduced after around 2-3 weeks and are usually only minimally visible.

The results are impressive in the long term. On average, patients are estimated to be around 5 to 10 years younger after a facelift. In addition to the visible rejuvenation effect, many also report a noticeable change in their self-esteem: they feel fresher, more self-confident and appear with more satisfaction and inner radiance.

A deep plane facelift offers particularly natural and long-lasting results - without the risk of an over-tightened, artificial appearance.

  • A facelift can be ideally combined with other aesthetic surgical procedures, depending on the individual starting point and desired result.

A forehead lift, eyelid lift (upper and/or lower eyelids) or neck lift are often performed in addition to achieve a holistically rejuvenated appearance. By combining several procedures, not only individual regions but the entire face can be treated in harmony - for a particularly natural and balanced result. We will clarify which combination makes sense for you in a personal consultation.

  • External influences such as intense sunlight, extreme temperatures, injuries, chronic stress or even smoking can significantly accelerate skin ageing. These factors have a negative impact on the stability and longevity of collagen and elastin fibers - the very structures that are responsible for the skin's elasticity and resilience.

Natural skin ageing is ultimately the result of an imbalance between the breakdown and regeneration of these fibers. If this balance is disturbed by external stress, the skin loses its firmness more quickly - the first wrinkles and a tired facial expression can be the result.
