FUE stands for "Follicular Unit Extraction" and is a method in which individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and transplanted into the recipient area. In contrast to the FUT method, in which a strip of skin with hair follicles is removed, with the FUE method the hair follicles are extracted using a special hollow needle. This modern method leaves smaller scars and leads to significantly faster healing. In the long term, this type of hair transplant is an effective method for treating hereditary hair loss (androgenetic alopecia).
